Well done - you have arrived at the personal donation page for Richard and Gillian's 21st Annual Christmas Party. A few easy steps and you are done. Any problems, give Jodie Ou a call, and she will love to help you. 604.876.3601 x332 Before that, I want to let you know how impressed Richard and I are with the Foodbank's evolution over the life of our party. Initially food donations were welcomed generally, and people would simply open up their cupboards and empty out the old cans and boxes of processed food. Those were the days when most of the items in the Food Bank were processed. There has been asignificant transformation in how the GVFB sees their role in our communities. Their commitment to nutrition, and moving towards fresh produce food items is profound, and when we visited their great new digs in Burnaby, (formerly Aritzia's warehouse!) we saw walls of refrigeration, and user-friendly food storage - really no person would feel second class picking up their groceries from there.

The GVFB has also made an arrangement with Costco to take their trays of prepared fresh food products as they near the due date to offer their clients. They have managed to do this by doubling their refrigeration capacity at the new warehouse, and when the outstanding impediment to making it work became refrigerated transportation, they secured funding to purchase refrigerated trucks to meet the need.

Of course we all wish we lived in a world where there was no need for a Food Bank. I also dream of the day when we have a safe supply of drugs, psychedelics are available in a therapeutic way for the mind, body and soul, prisons are abolished, and we love our planet and all its inhabitants with all our heart. Until then, there is harm reduction, remember that? Meeting people and bad policies where they are at, and making the best of it till the change comes.

Thank you for getting this far. Thank you for caring. Thank you for your generosity. Thank you for digging deep! Love, love, love, GILLIAN and RICHARD
